MND CC 114 all out (29.2 Overs)
Ackworth CC 115-2 (19.3 Overs)
Ackworth won by 8 wickets.
The 1sts crashed out of this year's Voneus Village Cup after a disppointing display against Ackworth which saw the visitors gain revenge for their defeat in the corresponding tie last year. For the first time this year the MND batting failed to fire as they were dismissed for a paltry 114. Ruben Syrett nicked to slip for a duck, before Ricky Woodmansey mis-timed a pull and was caught at midwicket. Kieran Gray and Harvey Dixon counter-attacked to take the score to 60-2 before Dixon was caught behind and Gray was stumped. Tom Walgate was trapped LBW and Mike Anderson was bowled, both for single figure scores, before Shaun Tate, Jack Riby and Colin Suggitt were all caught on the boundary. Tom Yates offered some resistance to take MND past the 100 mark and he finished unbeaten on 17 with three boundaries.
114 was unlikely to be enough, but Jack Riby struck in the third over to give MND hope of repeating last year's dramatic win. However, this hope was quickly extinguished by experienced opener Amit Kundra, as he hit 64 from 50 balls with several exquisite drives before he was caught by Tate off the bowling of Yates. Sam Swindin saw Ackworth home with 38* as none of the MND bowlers were able to make an impact.
MND will be looking to quickly put this performance behind them and get back to winning ways when they travel down to Patrington next Saturday.
