SHCC 66/10
MNDCC 70/3
MNDCC won by 7 wickets
MNDCC travelled to former rivals and newly-promoted South Holderness for their first and only pre-season friendly before the start of the league campaign next weekend. The away side emerged victorious with a comprehensive 7 wicket win.
Harvey Dixon led a youthful and exciting side. He won the toss and elected to bowl on a decent wicket. From the start Dixon and Riby set the tone and made it difficult for the strong South Holderness opening batsmen to score. Spinner Riby got the early vital breakthrough bowling captain and talisman Ingram for 3. From that point MNDCC were on top and continued to take wickets at regular intervals. When Riley fell for a well-made 34 the innings was all but over. Spin dominated with Riby finishing with figures of 5-21, Yates 3-21 and debutant Gray 2-8. It was a very impressive bowling performance with excellent ground fielding setting the standard for the season ahead.
MNDCC’s innings got off to the worst possible start with a wicket first ball however Syrett dug in and then scored with flair, playing some classy shots seeing the away side over the line with 34*. Ramsey provided strong support finishing unbeaten on 21.
A very promising start to the 2022 season. Huge thanks to South Holderness for providing excellent facilities - we wish you the best for the season.
