MND CC 237/5 (45 Overs)
Cottingham 2nd XI 95 all out (32.3 Overs)
MND CC Won by 142 runs.
The 1st XI got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comprehensive victory over a Cottingham 2nds side missing several of their key players. Despite being under-strength, visitig skipper Moy won the toss and elected to field, and both opening bowlers produced tight spells as MND got off to a circumspect start. Neither Ruben Syrett nor Ricky Woodmansey looked unduly troubled though, and they soon started to accelerate the scoring, adding 107 for the first wicket before Syrett fell for 64. Woodmansey went shortly after for 36, but this brought Harvey Dixon to the crease. With a point to prove after a disappointing personal performnace the previous week, Dixon immediately took the attack to the Cottingham bowlers, hitting six 4's and four maximums before he was dismissed for 58 from 34 balls. Late contributions from Tom Walgate (17), Isaac Wilkes (23*) and Mike Anderson (13*) took MND well past the 200 mark, with the innings closing on 237/5.
This looked a tough ask for Cottingham, and so it proved as a disciplined bowling performance from MND bowled them out for 95. Isaac Wilkes took an early wicket, but then it was over to slow bowlers Shaun Tate (3-28) and Mike Anderson (5-21) to rip through the Cottingham batting. They were assisted by some good catching, with Sam Dixon making a difficult catch in the deep look easy and Wilkes taking a smart catch at slip.
Man of the Match this week goes to Mike Anderson for his first 5-for of the season, alongside a cameo with the bat and a comfortable catch at mid-off. Next week we travel to Patrington, looking to record back-to-back wins.
